Does the Fountain of Four Rivers (Bernini) have any relation to Christianity?

So I'm doing a little project in World History and it's to find a piece of art from the Renaissance period and interpret it. So I chose the Fountain of Four Rivers by Bernini which is an obelisk in the middle and four rivers (Ganges, Rio de Plato, Nile, and Danube). I also am coincidentally reading Genesis in English class and part of it mentions a river flowing out of Eden to water the garden and divides and becomes four branches (Push, Gihon, Tigris, and Euphrates). And it got me thinking. The Renaissance was a period where many artists painted and created sculptures, etc. relating to Christianity. So I was wondering if the Fountain of Four Rivers and the four branches of rives in Genesis have anything to do with each other? Is the number four significant? Or four rivers? Please let me know what you think on this topic and inform me on any facts. I'd appreciate it!
