How much does The Gas Company charge to add gas lines to an area?

My husband and I are buying a house in a town where certain areas have gas lines and certain areas don't. I called The Gas Co to find out if there were gas lines running to our house and they said no, but they would have a planner call me to give me an idea of cost to add lines on our street. I am impatient and don't want to wait 7 days for the planner guy to call so I am wondering if anyone ever had to do this and how much was the cost?
